The Department of Surgery offers extensive academic programs for medical students, interns, residents and fellows. Diplomas in surgical OT programs provide a comprehensive learning experience in surgical disciplines taught through clinical and didactic sessions. Trainers of the program are expected to be general specialists. Surgeons or surgical this level of capability is attained through a program that offers extensive clinical exposure at every level of training.

The department strives to be on the forefront of epidemiological and clinical research. Our focus is mainly on indigenous problems and on innovations to improve surgical access in developing countries. We constantly invest in a process of continual development of research capacity and infrastructure, and our faculty members have commendable research profiles including research grants and publications. They are a recognized resource for policy and curriculum development, educational and training programs.

The course is designed to serve the health care needs of Pakistan by educating health care practitioners to the highest international standards and stimulating innovation through research.
